Community Foundation for Kettering provides funds to enable Kettering teachers at ineligible schools to earn shopping visits at Crayons to Classrooms through the Volunteer to Shop (VTS) program. Crayons to Classrooms (C2C) strives to ensure that every student in need as the tools for success every day. There are students in need at schools beyond just C2C eligible schools. These funds made it possible for C2C to procure and distribute these essential supplies to teachers and students in the Kettering Community.
At the completion of the 2022-2023 shopping year, C2C served a total of 34 teachers from the Kettering community, and the supplies provided impacted approximately 750 students. A Kettering teacher shared this heartwarming story of the impact of these supplies: “The supplies that I have gotten at Crayons to Classroom has made every child feel included. The largest impact was this year when I gave a student a backpack. She hugged me and said ‘No teacher has ever loved me the way you have.’ I then had a chance to tell her all about Crayons to Classroom and all that they do for our school. She was blown away that strangers would donate supplies for her.”
Over half of the Kettering teachers who shopped at our store this school year shopped through our Volunteer to Shop program. These teachers earn shopping visits through volunteer hours, either donated by a community volunteer or completed by themselves. Funds from Community Foundation for Kettering give C2C more opportunities to expand our program to teachers who work in schools that do not currently qualify for C2C’s services.
Thank you, Community Foundation for Kettering, for ensuring that Kettering teachers have the opportunity to shop at our store. Visit C2C’s website to learn about the VTS program and how you can give back to local teachers.
