The Charles D. Berry Foundation Supports Local Educators with $20,000 Grant

January 12, 2026

The Charles D. Berry Foundation provided funding to Crayons to Classrooms (C2C) through a $20,000 grant for the 2025-26 school year. This school year, C2C added 5 new schools to their eligible schools list, inviting over 200 teachers to join their shopping program. Each year, more teachers are invited to shop for free supplies and the resource center’s need for support increases to be able to support the growing need.

The average value of a shopping trip at the teacher resource center is $678. C2C stocks their shelves to serve over 100 teachers a week. This funding from the Foundation allows more teachers to shop for free and gives each teacher the opportunity to take more product back to their students.

Elizabeth, Dayton Public Schools teacher, shares that “there are many challenges when it comes to available funds for everyday teaching and student supplies. [C2C] donors touch more lives than they could ever know. This program has given the opportunity for all students to have what they need for daily success.”

The Foundation believes access to quality education is a vital component to ensuring individuals of all abilities and those with social or economic disadvantages can develop the foundation of solid academic skills needed to be successful in school and life.
