This school year, Crayons to Classrooms’ (C2C) Teacher Resource Center received funding from the Jacob G. Schmidlapp Trust. With six new schools being added to Crayons to Classrooms’ eligible schools list this fall, over 200 more teachers and thousands of students have access to free supplies through the resource center. Each year, more teachers are invited to shop for free supplies and the need for support increases to be able to support the growing need.
The average value of a shopping trip at C2C is $698, and some teachers walk away with over $2,000 per shopping trip. Eligible teachers are invited to shop twice a year, once per semester. This funding from the Jacob G. Schmidlapp Trust allows more teachers to shop for free and gives each teacher the opportunity to take more product back to their students. In all of our schools, at least 60% of students participate in the National School Lunch Program.
“I work in a school where the majority of the students fall below the federal poverty guidelines,” shares Ms. Johnson, third grade teacher at North Dayton School of Discovery. “C2C has helped me to be able to provide them with much needed supplies that their families may not be able to afford.”
