One of our most creative and collaborative programs at Crayons to Classrooms (C2C) is our Classroom Solutions program. The Classroom Solutions program creates practical tools and activities that can enhance existing lesson plans and improve the classroom environment. These tools encourage hands-on learning in simple and effective ways and save teachers from spending time or money to create or purchase them themselves.
One of our newer projects, introduced in fall 2024, is our Anatomy Kits. Last month, healthcare students in Ms. Gerhardt’s class at Mad River Middle School applied their knowledge of the human body by placing organs in the correct positions. “This valuable learning experience could not have been possible without the generous materials provided by Crayons to Classrooms,” shares Ms. Gerhardt.
Each Anatomy Kit includes 10 sets of organs and torsos, giving students opportunities to practice identifying and placing major organs in the correct positions within the human body. By engaging in hands-on learning, students can strengthen their understanding of anatomy in a way that is interactive, memorable, and fun.
Every Anatomy Kit and all other Classroom Solutions products that teachers use in their classrooms were created by volunteers. This school year, C2C volunteers spent 4,241 hours creating 29,900 products for the program. Volunteers create these products using donated materials, like paper, cardboard, and yarn, and tools such as die cut machines and paper cutters. Last school year, over 70% of C2C’s total volunteer hours were dedicated to creating Classroom Solutions products.
